FAQs

1. What is the best UV printer for my business?

The best UV printer for your business depends on what you plan to print, the size of your products, your typical order quantities, available production space, and how much capacity you need now and as your business grows.

For businesses focused on higher-volume production, the LogoJET UVx90R-SE combines a 24" × 36" print area with six industrial Ricoh print heads, 12 customizable ink channels, dual UV-LED lamps, up to 6" product clearance, rotary capabilities, and custom production tray options.

When comparing UV printers, don't look at print speed alone. Consider how many of your actual products can be produced per run, how efficiently they can be loaded and unloaded, what applications the printer can support, ink durability, maintenance requirements, and the training and technical support available after installation.

The best UV printer is ultimately the one that creates the most efficient and reliable production workflow around the products your business actually sells.

2. Which UV printer is right for me: an 18" × 24" or 24" × 36" printer?

Start with product size and production volume. An 18" × 24" printer such as the LogoJET UVx40R PLUS-SE may be a better fit when production space is limited, products are relatively small, and order quantities are moderate.

The LogoJET UVx90R-SE provides a 24" × 36" print area, twice the printable bed area of an 18" × 24" platform. That additional space can accommodate larger substrates or allow significantly more smaller products to be arranged across the bed during each production cycle. If your product fits on both printers, ask a different question: How many can I produce per load, and how many loads will it take to complete my typical order?

For businesses producing larger orders, ADA and wayfinding signage, high-volume promotional products, golf products, awards & recognition products, packaging, or repeat production jobs, the additional capacity of the LogoJET UVx90R-SE can significantly improve workflow and throughput.

3. What can I print with a 24" × 36" UV flatbed direct-to-object printer?

The LogoJET UVx90R-SE can print both flat substrates and dimensional products, giving businesses the flexibility to support multiple applications from one production platform. Applications include promotional products, ADA and wayfinding signage, canvas photos and art, golf products, awards and recognition products, personalized gifts, packaging components, acrylic, plastics, coated metals, glass, panels, wood, displays, and compatible industrial components.

The printer accommodates products up to 6 inches high, while rotary capabilities expand production to compatible cylindrical and tapered products such as tumblers, cups and bottles.

The larger 24" × 36" bed is also valuable for batch production because the entire print area does not have to be dedicated to one large product. Multiple smaller products can be positioned and printed during the same production run.

4. How fast is the LogoJET UVx90R-SE and how does it increase production throughput?

The LogoJET UVx90R-SE is designed for production throughput, not simply maximum advertised print speed. Its Speed Enhanced technology provides up to 25% increased throughput compared with the previous UVx90R configuration. Six industrial Ricoh GH2220 print heads provide 12 customizable ink channels, while two 395nm UV-LED lamps support curing during the bi-directional printing process. The 24" × 36" bed also allows more products to be produced during each print cycle. Custom and segmented tray workflows can further reduce setup and handling time by making it easier for operators to load, print, unload and reload repeat jobs.

For direct-to-object printing, one of the most useful measurements is therefore finished products per hour, not simply square feet per hour. For example, LogoJET's published golf-ball workflow accommodates 204 golf balls, or 17 dozen, per production load, with a published maximum SE benchmark of approximately 972 golf balls, or 81 dozen, per hour under the specified print conditions.

Actual production rates vary based on the application, artwork, print mode, ink layers, substrate and operator workflow.

5. How does the LogoJET UVx90R-SE compare with other 24" × 36" UV flatbed printers?

Not all similarly sized UV printers are designed for the same applications or production requirements. When comparing the LogoJET UVx90R-SE with another 24" × 36" or similar-size UV printer, evaluate the complete production workflow, not just bed size or maximum print speed.

Compare print-head technology, ink configuration, object-height clearance, UV curing, rotary capabilities, ink adhesion and flexibility, custom fixtures, products per production cycle, maintenance, software, training, technical support, warranty, parts availability, and total cost of ownership.

The LogoJET UVx90R-SE combines six industrial Ricoh print heads, 12 customizable ink channels, dual UV-LED lamps, up to 6" product clearance, rotary capabilities, and custom production tray options with LogoJET's application, training and technical support.

For direct-to-object applications, ask each supplier to demonstrate:

  • How many of my product can I print at once?
  • How long does that production cycle take?
  • What setup is required?
  • What does the finished product look like?
  • And what support will I receive after installation?

Those answers often provide a more meaningful comparison than a single advertised speed specification.

6. Is the UVx90R-SE good for high-volume promotional products, golf balls and ADA signage?

Yes. These are applications where the UVx90R-SE's larger bed and production workflow provide significant advantages.

For promotional products, the 24" × 36" bed can accommodate larger products or multiple smaller products in a single run. LogoJET can also create custom trays around specific products to improve registration, maximize pieces per bed and make repeat orders easier to produce.

For golf-ball production, LogoJET's high-capacity workflow accommodates 204 golf balls, or 17 dozen, per production load, with a published maximum SE benchmark of approximately 972 balls per hour under specified conditions.

For ADA and wayfinding signage, the larger bed provides space for larger signs or multiple room, directional and identification signs during the same production run. The UVx90R-SE can also be incorporated into workflows involving dimensional UV-printed elements and Braille. Finished ADA signage must be designed and verified according to applicable accessibility requirements.

7. Should I buy a lower-cost UV printer or invest in a production UV printer?

It depends on what you expect the printer to do for your business. A lower-cost or desktop UV printer may be appropriate for occasional personalization, prototypes, learning the technology, or lower-volume production. A production-focused UV printer becomes more important when throughput, repeatability, equipment uptime, operator efficiency, print durability, service and support directly affect customer orders and revenue.

Purchase price is only one part of the investment. Businesses should also consider labor per finished product, ink consumption, maintenance, wasted products, downtime, production capacity, technical support, replacement parts, and how many production cycles are required to complete a typical order.

For businesses evaluating the UVx90R-SE, the question isn't simply “How much does the printer cost?” It is also “What will it cost me to produce each order, and how much production capacity will I have to grow?”
